These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Chronicle iOS app and any related services we operate (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using Chronicle you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) to use Chronicle. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Your account

You sign in using Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use.

3. Your content

"Your Content" means all data you create or import in Chronicle, including time entries, categories, goals, and tasks. You retain full ownership of Your Content. By using the Service you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, and transmit Your Content solely to provide and improve the Service. We will not use Your Content for advertising or share it with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Chronicle Pro subscription

5.1 Plans and pricing

Chronicle offers a free tier and a paid subscription ("Chronicle Pro"). Pro is available as a monthly or yearly plan. Current pricing is displayed in the app before purchase. Prices may change; any change will apply from the next renewal period and will not affect a current billing cycle.

5.2 Free trial

New subscribers may be eligible for a free trial (currently 1 week). If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the plan price shown at sign-up.

5.3 Billing and renewal

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's App Store settings.

5.4 Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are subject to Apple's refund policies. We do not process refunds directly.

6. HealthKit and Calendar data

Chronicle may access Apple Health (HealthKit) and Calendar (EventKit) data with your explicit permission. This data is used solely to display information on your timeline. We do not use Health or Calendar data for advertising. For details on how this data is handled, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual property

All rights, title, and interest in the Service (excluding Your Content), including the app design, graphics, trademarks, and underlying code, belong to us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks, branding, or logos.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including consumer protection laws in Norway or the European Economic Area.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Norwegian law.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 3, 8, 9, 11, and 12) will survive.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Norway.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, you also retain any mandatory consumer rights granted to you by the laws of your country of residence, and nothing in these Terms affects your right to rely on those provisions. You may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Chronicle after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the Service.
